So, I decided to boot up a frozen ManiaPlanet 3 install and compared it with the latest version, which is what this video is. I drove a replay on MP3, rendered it using the in-game "Shoot video" option and copied the replay over to MP4, so I could get 2 identical replays. I then rendered it again in ManiaPlanet 4.1. I switch between the two every couple of seconds on this upload, so you can see the difference.
