651 Press any key to continue... PlayStation 2 - BIOS soundtrack [PS2 BGM Rip] 0 2025-10-21 Ambient sounds from the PS2 BIOS. Short sound effects (less than 5 seconds) are not included here.

These sounds seem to be using this sound format: https://psx-spx.consoledev.net/cdromfileformats/#sq-hd-hd-sssqsshd (used by some first-party Sony PS1/PS2 games as well)

The HD/BD/SQ files are embedded directly inside the BIOS ROM (in compressed form). I have actually managed to partially convert these into a soundfont and MIDI files, you can listen to an example here, but I couldn't convert accurate ADSR yet, so it doesn't sound exactly the same: http://paktc.markusmaal.ee/redscreen.zip

However, in this video, I have instead opted to trick the PlayStation 2 into playing these sounds, which was easier to pull off and it is 100% accurate.

Chapters:
0:00 Startup sound
0:18 Startup woosh (played immediately after startup sound when no disc is inserted)
0:27 Main menu ambiance (played on the main menu/system configuration screens)
5:27 Unknown (maybe a part of another sound?)
5:33 Short woosh (played after startup sound when a game disc is inserted)
5:39 Red screen of death (plays when you insert an invalid disc)
10:40 RSOD variant (might be an unused sound?)

P.S. If you are the first person who can figure out the exact time of day I recorded this based on the flying orbs, I'll pin your comment.

I did cheat a little here, because I forced specific MIDI channels to play a specific instrument from the soundfont (otherwise it would just be xylophones, which is kind of boring).

The soundbank conversion is still not 100% accurate (but it is getting closer), if you want to see the current state of things, clone and compile FlipnicFileTools here: https://github.com/MarkusMaal/FlipnicFileTools

Main issues unresolved include: loopings aren't perfectly aligned, the output .SF2 file isn't 100% spec compliant and velocity adjustments break stuff.

It is played when the ManiaPlanet client is unable to authenticate your profile and thus verify the ownership of the TrackMania² Canyon title.

Interestingly, unlike the new song, this track is actually perfectly looped. The loopstart value in metadata seems to indicate the exact sample where the loop point is, except since it's in stereo, there are two tracks, so the actual loop point is divided by 2.

I used Audacity to cut out the audio at the exact loop point and created this 15 minute long extended version.

Most audio is in the swf files you can find in C:\Windows\Tours\Help\mmTour, so you can use a tool like JPEXS Flash Decompiler to extract the audio files, however some stuff is embedded directly to tour.exe. So what I did is I searched for the "FWS" magic within tour.exe with a hex editor and knowing the offset for that allowed me to separate the embedded SWF file, which I could then open with a flash decompiler. There were some people on Reddit saying they could extract it from tour.exe with 7-Zip, but that didn't work for me, so I did it manually.

I converted the background music used in BuzzRod: Fishing Fantasy to SF2 and MIDI formats. Each track is made of 2 parts (with exceptions): the beginning and the loop. For this video, I play the beginning part and then the loop part 10 times, creating extended versions of each track. I also display some of the textures from the game in this video.

537 Press any key to continue... Flipnic - Full soundtrack [BGM] 0 2023-04-23 There are already some uploads of the soundtrack for this game, but they're incomplete and missing tracks. This one should include every single background music from Flipnic, which has a corresponding .MID, .BD and .HD file. The images are backgrounds used in certain menu screens.

I was able to record these soundtracks by muting the sound effects, then replacing a music track that was supposed to play with another one using Cheat Engine. Finally, I recorded all of the background music by setting the record source to loopback in Audacity and then exported each recording into a file.
